Young Living Fall Favs: Christmas Spirit

I wish that someone at Young Living would have called me to say, 'Hey we made this new blend with Orange, Cinnamon Bark, and Spruce, what would you like to call it?' Honestly, I wouldn't have called it Christmas Spirit. I think a lot of people only use this oil during the holidays which is an incredible waste. I diffuse this beauty all year long

Diffuse this blend of Orange, Cinnamon Bark and Spruce around the holidays ... and all year long!

Diffuse this blend of Orange, Cinnamon Bark and Spruce around the holidays ... and all year long!

Let's Break it Down: The Recipe for Christmas Spirit

Orange

This oil is supportive for a wide range of systems, from emotional support to digestive. Plus, did you know that orange oil helps with oily skin?* And many people use this oil in their toothpaste to naturally whiten teeth. It may be supportive for your cardiac system as well. Case closed: Orange is an incredible oil.

*Safety Spotlight: Citrus oils are photo-sensitive and can cause a burn if exposed to the sun. Apply it at night or keep your skin out of direct sunlight.

Cinnamon Bark

When you add Cinnamon Bark to the mix, it gets kinda' "Ker-plow" for it's health powers. Let's just say it kills things, things you want dead, you get my drift?

This is one of my favorite oils for cold feet. What, you say, cold feet?... Yes! Unless you have been hanging out in the local stream, cold feet is usually a sign you need circulation support, and Cinnamon can work on that for you. It is also a great immune stimulant and works as a general purifier.

And um, can't really write about these two oils without saying, YUM-MY, so then there is that.

Spruce

Ok, Spruce is powerful oil for emotional and respiratory support that has a really nice woodsy aroma. It is grounding and helps bring balance. Perhaps that is why this oil is in so many of our favorite blends.

Seriously, do you know how many blends contain Spruce? If you go to Young Living's site and put Spruce in the product search bar, you can get a list of all the blends that contain Spruce. Take note of how many are for grounding and emotional support! Perhaps this is why they tag this oil during the cold winter months and during the stressful holidays because of the type of support it offers.

A Gift for Any Season

So when you combine these three beneficial oils into one bottle, you get a little piece of Heaven that, now that you know, can become a year round favorite! Young Living Christmas Spirit is totally welcome well before Thanksgiving.

Oil of the Week: Stress Away

STRESS-AWAY : verb pronounced \ˈstres-ə-ˈwā\! Seems pretty self-explanatory right? Well it is, but oh it is so much more.

Stress Away: Self-Explanatory? Not So Fast.

How does Stress Away help keep stress away? The perfect combination of Copaiba, Lime, Cedarwood, Ocotea and Lavender, of course.

How does Stress Away help keep stress away? The perfect combination of Copaiba, Lime, Cedarwood, Ocotea and Lavender, of course.

Ingredient #1: Copaiba

Stress Away contains the essential oil Copaiba. Copaiba contains B-caryophyllene. Why, yes it does. So are you wondering why we care about B-caryo…whatever? Let me fill you in. It is a chemical present in numerous plants including Cannabis which is being studied at fervent levels for being able to assist in feeling anxious and other emotional support concerns, among many other human issues.

Ingredient #2: Lime

Stress Away also contains lime. You should really look up lime, because it has a tremendous benefits including emotional, skin and lymphatic system support...just to get you curious. It also has a really fresh smell and taste.

Ingredient #3: Cedarwood

Stress Away also contains cedarwood. We can guess how God feels about cedarwood since the sacrifices were often given in recipes calling for cedarwood (Lev 14 and Num 19), and Solomon’s Temple, was made of cedarwood (1 Kings 6). Can’t you just close your eyes and take yourself there?

Cedarwood is my nite-nite oil when I am overwhelmed (that isn’t a disease condition yet is it?).  Cedarwood is full of sesquiterpines, which means it is heavier and the smell will hang with you a little longer, and who doesn’t want that?

Ingredient #4: Ocotea

Next is Ocotea. This is one of my personal favorites. I have been able to curb my sugary food cravings by dropping one drop under my tongue when I am feeling naughty. I don’t know if they were thinking of me when they made this oil, but I am a comfort eater when I get stressed, so having this little beauty in Stress Away is like – BONUS!

Ingredient #5: Lavender

And last, but not least, is lavender. I don’t need to tell you how this oil has been celebrated, all over the world throughout all time, for its relaxing and soothing properties.

How To: Get Your Stress Away On!

So all that information to say what? Get your Stress Away on! Give it to your friends, your neighbors, your family. Take a bottle with you when you go to the office, for when that special co-worker comes around. You know which one I’m talking about. Diffuse it when people come over,  or in your car (it helps with road-rage … ask me how I know), give it as a house-warming gift, or a graduation gift, or a wedding gift. These are all stress-filled times in a person’s life. There is NO wrong time to give the gift of Stress Away.

Baby, It's Cold Outside: Get Your Slique (Tea) On

I was out of town for a couple of weeks and when I returned my box was here. You know the one. The one that, even if I already have every single item in it, is always my favorite box. But this box was different. This box did have something new. It had my Slique Tea.

"I don't know what took me so long..."

I don't know why I waited so long to try this cozy cup of deliciousness!

I don't know why I waited so long to try this cozy cup of deliciousness!

I don’t know what took me so long to order it, I thought about it a dozen times. It just kept getting pushed off for something ‘better.’ Well, I am here to tell you, no more. I really like this stuff. I drank my first little bag of it with a tsp of honey. And I won’t stop there. I plan to try different sweeteners like agave, or maybe even maple syrup, just to shake it up a bit. The sky is the limit.

I keep thinking, why did I wait so long? I like the Slique oil, I like everything in it. I like the Slique Bars, again, yum! So why did I wait? Well to confess, I don’t really like tea (gasp). I know, I know. To be from the south and not like tea, what is wrong with me? I dunno, I just never have. So, now I do, but only if it is my Slique Tea.  Hmmm, now let’s pray I get my slique on.

Stay Warm & Slique with Slique Tea!

Here’s what’s in each cup of exotic deliciousness:

Jade oolong tea, inulin, ocotea leaf (Ocotea quixos), Ecuadorian cacao powder, vanilla essential oil, frankincense powder (Boswellia sacra), and natural stevia extract. Translation: Yummy and healthy.

How does that help you get your Slique on?

First: Flavonoids.

This dietary compound helps you maintain certain normal, healthy body functions.

Next up: Polyphenols.

Or, my guilt-free secret to weight management. Just add a healthy diet and regular exercise to reach your own goals.

Finally: Frankincense.

As in 100% pure therapeutic grade Frankincense powder, or exactly the quality you’d expect from a Young Living product. This essential oil is my go-to for spiritual refocus, which goes perfectly with a cozy cup of tea.

My Joyful Days

Back in my day (said in an old lady voice), JOY didn’t come in the everyday oils kit. There were only 9 (gasp) oils back then. Fortunately, I was part of a wise and lovely group of ladies, who raved ferociously about the essential oil blend called “JOY”. ‘Wear it for perfume’ they said, ‘supports my mood’ they said, and ‘oh, it smells so good’ they said.

The Essential Oil Blend Called “JOY”

So, I got my JOY oil and tore the lid off and took the biggest whiff of…WTH? This did not bring me joy, far from it! I felt the pull to use it, but I had to put it on my feet everyday just to get it as far away from my nose as possible. Oh those girls, how did they wear it for perfume…puuuweeee!

My Soul Now Sings of JOY

I am nothing if not dedicated to my oils, and after a couple of weeks of continued use on my feet, an odd thing happened. JOY started becoming Joyful! I started to crave the smell and more importantly the effects. I tell people – you know when you wake up and you just don’t want to be with yourself that day? You just wake up on the wrong side of the earth? Ever heard “when Momma ain’t happy… ?” That is the day you need JOY more than ever. My kids bring me my JOY bottle when I am ‘irritable’ and with puppy eyes holding it in their cupped hands ask, “Mommy, were you looking for this?” They know! Everyone knows! Oh, how my soul now sings of JOY!

So JOY is now a staple in my home. Everyone, even my husband, who says it tingles his brain when he uses it, applies JOY for emotional support. So if you haven’t already, join me and become a JoyDropper today!
